JCDecaux Australia takes its commitment to sustainability seriously. As a company we endeavour to employ sustainable practices across all areas of the business, with a focus on environmental initiatives.

JCDecaux is dedicated to pursuing business practices that are respectful of the public and the environment, and continually strive to reduce electricity and water consumption and minimise waste. Recycling and rain-water collection are key strategies in this process.

Waste Management
Wherever possible waste is recycled. JCDecaux's Waste Management Plan sees the company's contribution to landfill dramatically reduced, monitoring types of waste, quantities and disposal methods to ensure everything from office waste to posters is managed and recycled.
Company performance in this area is monitored and measured against targets ever quarter. In Quarter 2, 2012 JCDecaux recycled over 40 tonnes of waste, a 186 per cent increase in eight months.

Water Conservation
As part of JCDecaux's sustainability practices the company collects rain-water for asset maintenance. The Sydney warehouse has two rainwater tanks with a total capacity of 90,000 litres and Brisbane's depot has a single tank with a capacity of 25,000 litres.
Since the installation of the water tanks in 2008, more than 660,000 litres of rainwater has been collected and utilised to maintain all JCDecaux street furniture assets in both Sydney and Brisbane, and in the last 12 months the company has reduced water consumption by 68 per cent.
JCDecaux are proud of this initiative and company vehicles are clearly marked 'Captured rainwater in use for cleaning' to communicate this sustainable practice to the public for their peace of mind.
